39 Customs, uses. It's Cuss, uses swearword, with Tom, cat, inside (coming across_. Cus tom s.

19 Uttering, talking. If there was an M in front, it'd be Muttering, grumbling.

They do indeed Malone but can you parse these 2 for me?

23D - SHELDUCK
2D - ACROSS THE TRACKS

Myla, I'm not great at parsing - and totally useless without the clues...!

2 D - just a double definition. Naughty children sometimes run across the tracks, railways lines, and Across The Tracks means the same as On the wrong side of the tracks, a slum or other socially-disadvantaged area.

PS I looked at the paper in the garden, it was in my recycling bin. I didn't bring it back in, so haven't done the full clues.

Hi Malone. Parsings kind of agreed with mine but they are tenuous to say the least. Hope your trip to the garden didn't count as your 1 outing for the day! Staying safe, if somewhat bored, I trust.

Thanks, Myla. I didn't mind the clues - sometimes I don't even stop to consider the parsing! I liked Across The Tracks because I didn't know it had the same meaning as 'the wrong side...'.
