Yes Malone that's exactly what I thought rowdiest would be my choice but just can't fit the d in

Does 'gaudiest' not fit with rowdiest ?

I think it's the O in 'wonkiest' that is definite, Cerasus.

What about a great Scottish word - Roariest is the same as gaudiest, flashiest etc?

Appreciate what you're saying Malone. But it is the evening post. Haven't come across a good one in all my travels across the UK whilst working. A bit like the evening standard.
I was working on the idea of two queues. 1 is orderly (in a straight line) and the other was disordely (wonky)
Therefore, one would be the straightest whilst the other would be the wonkiest.
Perhaps just regional. But we would say that where I come from.
I'm sure i'm wrong. But I still don't see a problem with it. :-)

I have just this minute seen 'gaudiest' given as answer elsewhere

Thanks, Cerasus - the O from Concur mustn't have been correct!

PS I'm getting slightly lost with all the various options.

Shooty, thanks - I like other viewpoints. The crossword is from the very Scottish Sunday Post - but I never see it, so have no idea how good/bad/clever the clues can be!

Cerasus, I think I've got it straight now - Rowdiest, Concur and Gaudiest, they all seem to work together.
