Ok, I've seen the parsing of the other. I was being too complicated!

Hi Roof, for 6d your crossers are correct and it is an anagram.

For 11a you need 2 playing cards, one of which is a knave, and they both share one letter - and this goes inside 'his', with the definition being 'hostile takeover' (in the air).

Hi again Roof, for 18d you want a star 'sign' around a 2 letter word for 'journey' and the usual abbreviation for 'south'.

19d is a 3 letter word for 'knowing' around a 4 letter word for, as Rusty said, a female 'relative'.

26a as Rusty says, your F is wrong and it's a 6 letter word in the clue minus the "h" + I + the odd letters of 'easy'.

Well Brendan kept me well occupied this weekend. I managed to finish it finally, although not without "cheating" as my husband would say, or "using my resources" (this forum) as I prefer to call it! Thanks all.

It was enjoyable though I have a couple of reservations:
Is 26 d an actual word? I couldn't find it. Similarly 1 d. seemed a bit contrived.
Also 26 a is too colloquial for my taste - but then I am 195 next birthday.
Perhaps someone will give me a more up to date dictionary then.

For 1 down, One is posted during watch, for instance, as helmsman, I have ???O?E?R and am trying to find an accepted word -- not just the name of a game -- that would extend a 5- letter word for helmsman by -eer and would have a 4-letter word for watch closely using the 1st letter and the -eer. Any support for this? And how does Posted fit in?
