I realised how horribly dated these stories were when my son asked why we didn’t have a gong to bang at meal times.

Thank you so much always puzzled - as a child I hated tiny blonde and that profoundly unsatisfactory puzzle has reinforced my antipathy.

Does anyone know the correct submission date for this puzzle please? It's given as 3 February, with 2439 given as 27 January, but the Christmas puzzle had a deadline of 20 January yet winners were obviously drawn before then, so perhaps all these dates are out of sequence now?
