Can anyone help to parse these?
36d: Camera accessory selection finally sold in more stylish setting.
Answer: Rangefinder
55a: Onlooker volunteers to feed unpopular police officer?
Answer: Spectator. I think this may be: Spec, (short for inspector), tater?
(short for potato) but heaven forfend if it is.

Thanks for your help, ginge and elle. I have not been able to come across the slang expression "spector" anywhere. Is this now in current usage?

@despard, spector is not a word
popular is IN
Police officer is INSPECTOR
Cryptically, unpopular (not IN) so remove IN (popular) from Inspector
