Stuck on parsing these clues:

26a Regulator in carburettor : small copper one? (9,5)

Butterfly valve fits the first part of the clue, but what about the rest?

8d Reservoirs in time avoided by foxes (5)
Sumps fits the definition, but the rest?

12d Comic that is requiring much paper (6)
Scream seems to do, but where does the 'sc' come from?

48d Maybe miss show in the morning, on getting up (5)
M-R-A : Maria fits the bill, but why is ari (or ira) a show?

Any help most welcome.

12 Sc is an abbreviation for a Latin word that means 'that is', namely. I haven't got my dictionary to give more details.

Cerasus, I had that reCaptcha problem the other night but it cleared overnight and no problem now.
I find the forum website a bit slow and laggy today, though.
