Some very good clues this week, but still can't see these -
7 Across - "He's one United put in control" (6) H-L-U-
(I can only think of HELMUT)
21 Across - "One into renewable energy, local veg? (3-7)
I have E-O hyphen -I---G-
31 Down - "Nick would only be a quarter as long? (3-4)
(I think this has to be TWO-INCH but I can't see why)

31, to nick/steal is "half inch"/pinch.
A half inch is a quarter of two inches ?

Many thanks, one and all - should have seen the "nick" one. I thought of "eco village" but haven't yet parsed this - maybe an anagram involved.

Not doing at all well with this. Some I think I've got but can't parse are:

31a Drag people in front of film - to watch here? (2,3)
On set?
1d Not the only one to treat you as a joke (7)
Comedic?
2d Virginia's work, turning over boy's room: mean, indeed.
