Answer is oboe, but not sure this clue works, those are the even, not odd, letters.

Cerasus, I think the OP was querying it being the even, rather than the odd, letters - but I don't think it has to be as literal as that, I think 'oddly' can just be 'every second letter'.

I think 'oddly' can just mean alternate letters
