I thought this week was 1ac!

Acronyms again, and I completely agree with Halloway that (1,1,1,1) would be technically more correct than (4). The same goes for the other acronym answer.

I parsed 9ac by taking the “heading to north” (N) from its usual position in the word, and putting it at the end instead. I only solved 18d fairly speedily because we had the same answer for “man-eaters” a month or so ago, albeit with a different clue to get there.

Clue of the day for me was 27ac, beautifully worded and raised a smile.

@RichardK Your parsing of 9a also makes sense now. Thanks

Is 6 across an anagram?

I’m new to every man, it’s harder than my normal daily solve of the times cryptic, but I’ve got a fair few so far.

6 down that should be.

I'm not sure what the convention on this, but in both cases these are abreviations that are more common in usage than their full titles, and breaking them down into their initials would have made the clues so obvious as to be hardly cryptic at all. Luckily I work in IT so they both lept out at me anyway!
