I have been entertained for most of the week by this puzzle, but, as so often is the case, I am stumped by two final clues. I have the theme and the associated word to be highlighted, however the answers to 32a - "Place Deputy Lieutenant around university concerned with boggy ground"(5) and 30d - "Transmit recorded sound waves not socially acceptable"(4).
Each has a deleted letter for 32a it is "A" and for 30d it is "R".
Thanks in anticipation.

def is 'concerned with boggy ground' - usual abbrev for 'place' and 'Deputy Lt' with 'a' missing twice.

def 'Transmit' - 5 letters for 'recorded sound' minus U (and the answer is missing first letter 'R').
