I am in danger of failing to solve the specie crossword for the first time in 3 years!
One unclued: 28a - I have ma?r?o? It should be a bird (I think).
And 31a: Open country surrounded by huge trees (7) ?l?n??s

Hi davidpe, I think your crossing 22d is wrong as the 4th letter of 28a isn't "R" nor the 2nd letter of 31a "L". Hope this helps but if not post again.

Dare I say that this has been too easy .....but I cannot solve unclued 10D and 35D. Is the answer lost in small print ?

I now have the answer I needed - was looking in the wrong Spectator! Sorry folk.

Age (old) is beginning to play a part and I believe I may be too accident prone to take part in these speccie threads.
I was meaning to refer to this week's Crossword 2425 and not 2424 (which I completed only after a great struggle). One difficult puzzle followed by an easy one.
