Thank you all for your contributions.

Stats:-

26 clues from
14 setters of whom
11 made a first vote in time and
8 offered a second.

With one vote we have:-
Geevo41 @22
Mattrom @6
Mattrom @27
Rossim @12

Congratulations to them.

In silver medal place with three votes is SkyeWalker with his interstellar effort @2, a very popular and cheery clue.

But our clear winner this week with a resounding four votes (five if you count Penda's vote, which I didn't) is FieryJack with his fragrant channelling of Cap’n Birdseye -

Once upon a time Grimsby stored fish (6)

Congratulations FJ, a great clue – your prize is hereunder - apologies all as it is long at over 5 minutes – if you can bear to watch it right through to the end you may experience two alternate definitions of ‘megrim’ - I certainly did.

Have a good weekend all, see you next week, all being well, thanks again. M

Congrats FJ - it would have been in my top two except for the superfluous (apart from surface) "Once upon a" (though I accept that my favourite, SW's @2, has superfluous words too!)
Thanks kt17.

Nice one, FJ! Cheers, KT17. Many thanks to ChrisE, JWS and Mattrom, for the votes. Much appreciated. (I thought that, perhaps, that clue might have been too "niche" to garner any votes. Shows how much I know!)

@ChrisE, I hear you and I'm sure the others on this thread hear you, and get your drift.

For the purposes of this competition the setter has it in their gift to alter the rules of the competition.

Perhaps the setter should, if they see fit, dictate for example that strict Ximenean principles apply for that weeks contest, and then rule out votes which ignore the diktat, again this would be in their gift.

Just musing and thinking out loud.

If the setter is the sole arbiter of which clues are "allowed" it's not a "peer review".
