Landseer almost created marine creature. Answer is Sandeep, but must remove a block of letters. Grid gives s?l - must be SAL or SEL. Can’y see it. Help e. Other than this, have solved the grid and found the thematic answer.

answer is sandeel ..anagram of landsee(r)

grid entry is SEL..(the other letters ande rearranged give one of the priests)
