It's well hidden, isn't it :-)

It's "Part of Yorkshire" (think Sunday roast)

Hi Elle, is that the homophone you didn't like or is it the now incarcerated financier?

No, Brendan, I thought that one was okay.....
It's our friend Bernie that I didn't like!

I was really surprised to see there are YouTube videos that give the supposed pronunciation.

@Brendan...I've found a YouTube video , but the pronunciation given is "mad off" not "made off" as the setter would have us believe.

Click the top one as that is in UK English!

Good spot Elle, I was ignoring the difference between Uk and USA pronunciation - if, as seems the case, the setter is referring to the USA pronunciation, maybe a hint could have been given in the clue.

Maybe the setter assumed , because the financier in question IS American, that we would assume the name to be pronounced in an American "way"?
But how would we know what that is, without checking it out?

A sloppy clue?

The BBC news channel have always pronounced his name as "made off " so I was aware of the pronunciation, without checking. I think the clue is fair
