One of the drawbacks of numericals is that an early error can lead to a lot of wasted time up a cul-de-sac (unlike orthodox word-based cryptics). I would therefore welcome a private conversation to confirm what I have for 1A, 7D and the number of the 25 primes exceeding 100. If you email me I will reply with what I have.

cockie, the digit sum of 1a is 37, of 7d is 36 and the digit that is the number of primes greater than 100 is contained in 7d but not 1a

Thanks, crosswhit99 - that confirms 1A and 7D and my best guess about the number > 100. Still a way to go though, but at least I know I'm on the right track.

Even after tentatively filling the top and bottom rows and the last column I'm finding the permutations just multiply. I have three possibilities for 2d, resulting in around 9 possible entries for 12a. Picking one at random I get something to fit 1d but there are probably dozens of other possibilities. My tentative answer uses only 3 digits. Can anyone confirm that?

This is not my idea of a fair numerical puzzle.

Ignore the request in my last post. I made an error. There still seem to be an awful lot of possibilities for 1d, only a few of which I've dome up with as I've only got as far as checking the possibilities for one of the possible primes for 12a.

Thanks, Cloverjo. I assume you mean it is 26.

Please be so kind as to tell me the digit sum of 15a
