Hi TR, can I check my parsing for #36?

1. I saw it as an anagram of 'to tie Dame Edna' - 'editor', but then I have an extra E and no R. I'm not seeing 'make example of'

2. Is it ETA + D + NAM, all reversed?

Hello mattrom!

Order to - Def
T(ie) Dame (Ed)na
Make example of - ie
Editor - Ed

Your parse for the Nam clue is spot on!

Regarding my entry @11, I see that my Chambers has "screw around" only as to be promiscuous or to act the fool, whereas perhaps its most common meaning over here is to waste time with unproductive activity, which is what I intended for the surface read, to go along with the alternative meaning of "get behind".

Aristo - I'd say that, on this side of the pond, we'd understand your 'mess around' meaning of screw around. Indeed, 'screw up' is similarly understood as 'mess up'.

Thanks to everyone who contributed this week. After a slow start, we ended up with 34 excellent clues from 15 setters - I think you all deserve a rosette.
My favourites included FJ's #3, 5 & 23, Paul #10, 14 &17, Nemo #6, Dorrien #13, Stevea #19, Kt17 #16.

The runners-up are Aristo's slacker #11 and Ginge's Mae West #45.
This week's winner, with smooth surface and neat wordplay, is Sunray #33

Every now and then draftees follow soldier's order

Well done, Sunray! I'd like to match the prize to the word, but couldn't find anything suitable, so it's animals again...

Cheers.

P.S. Aristo, I'm not sure how 'slacker' translates, either. Here it refers to a malingerer.
