I don't think that 19d can count as a themed one.

sorry rayh - misread as 19a .... 19d parsing is first word definition, wordplay one letter for second, word for beer around french where. Not themed.

Bit late on the game this month as been overseas. The least obvious replacement occurs in 14, and there are only 4 in the down clues.

Can anyone help me with 13a? I have ?a?h?i. It's my last one and I'm thoroughly stuck. I've been working on the basis that the definition is the first two words but can't find anything. Am I looking at it wrong?

def is first 2 words - answer is hidden in the clue - he was a Guyanan and played for the Windies.

21 - a kind of drink followed by last two letters which are the customary crossword answer to "setter's" (when it's not I'm). Guinness gives you the thematic substitution which is the definition (I believe - not a cards man myself ...)
