I think your first E is wrong, jogamel, and B is an omitted letter. I say I think because I haven't finished yet and I've found this a bit harder than average.

I cannot reconcile 9d with the end of 16a.

Orson, 9 D is a thematic answer - I expect you have the correct letters.

9d I think is SO round DAD muddled which will help you with 16a

I have an anagram of SETS and DAD for 9d, which means my 16a needs to end with a D or DES (the pattern of others suggests the former). But before that I have ...NOS?

Thanks, Orson, 16 A definitely ends D (from the land of...). The answer could be defining the 'state of being in the land of...' I think there's an extra letter, omitted from wordplay. I didn't bother with all of those.

So 16a ends ...NOSD. I can't find any word like that.

Orson, I've got an I where your S is (but I've been known to be wrong! And my actual answer seems to work.)
