Rays, you mentioned in your other thread, that there was no "h" in the answer.
Does this mean that you do have some letters?
How does this "link" system work?
How do you know when you have the correct answer?

Both "memory" and "report" were suggested on the other thread, but didn't seem to be acceptable?

Unless there are prescribed letters of which we are unaware, 'memory', 'report', and 'bottom' are all correct. They fit the criteria

They may not agree with the setter's answer though

Which, hopefully is also correct

That is why I have asked Rays for some extra information , see post 4.
I am thinking he is perhaps not giving us all the facts?

My mistake, the word "memory" is correct. When saying it didn't have an "H", the main 10 letter answer to the clue was "wood pecker"

I'm glad that you have finally got your puzzle sorted!
But I still do not understand how it all works?
You say there is a main answer' woodpecker'...so how do all the link words fit in with that?
It would be interesting to know?
