Thank you both so much for your kind comments. They were greatly appreciated, especially as you opened a separate thread.
I was pleased with the surface reading and felt the anagram was fairly well disguised.
However, I was out all day and didn't see the other clues, so the win was quite a surprise.

I thought it was a lovely clue with nice reading. Did you prefer it with the word you originally omitted?

I think the 'is' improved the surface reading.
