Couldn't agree more with s_pugh and Malone. Meersault appears to think he is always right and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Well Malone, you aren't a regular the Listener threads, so perhaps I should make allowances. Also you cannot tell the difference between 6 counties and 9. So I must make a good deal of allowances. The fact is that what I have done this week is within the parameters agreed a few weeks ago : that answers should not be within open view on the 'hints' thread. Which, de facto, is this thread. Once anyone goes onto the 'answers' thread, they have only themselves to blame if they see more than they bargained for. But even within those parameters, my direction to find a complete solution was sufficiently contrived that no-one will 'accidentally' have seen the complete solution.

But if you want to argue, just carry on by all means. I have a nice meal awaiting, so you'll be arguing with yourself, again. Cheers !

Hi Orson,
I'll put some help for you on the answers thread, then that will leave this thread available for all the 'tut-tutting'...

A tough challenge this week but fair. For a while I thought the keyword might be Laager after getting three of its letters, but otherwise plain sailing.
I have just has a quick look at the FB page and it seems Johannes Desilento has been posting complete solutions for several weeks now. I don’t plan to visit his page again.
If he continues there will be no need for a specific answers forum - at least for FB users. Perhaps we can now go back to offering gentle hints in response to specific questions and those who just want the answers straight up can join/use FB.

meursault - You haven't given enough consideration to other views if you think that posting a complete solution to the puzzle is within the limits of what was discussed a few weeks ago.

Your habit of giving unsolicited answers wasn't appreciated then, by just about everyone (myself included). Now you've upped the stakes to a ridiculous degree.

Orson, radials 7 to 12 use the cells in rings 6 and 7 that are on the logical path. If you follow the grid line from the perimeter you should be able to see which cells are used. For instance, radial 9 uses the same letter in ring 6 as radial 8, but it shares the letter in the seventh ring that is used by 10 and 11.

For radial 3 you have the right letters from the wordplay (ignoring that A). You need to add the same letter twice at different points to get the definition (first two words of clue).

Hints on:

12. One who acts without thinking is after gold, on account of having millions stashed (10)

27. Old boy locking retired rear admiral inside hazardous building (8)

For 7, I am still trying to find the name of the sausage. My Australian friend sent me names. None means goodbye.
Snag is the only short one.

Thanks.

sunray - look under the 5 letter headword that starts your 'goodbye' - it's there ('small frankfurter').

7 The 'sausages' are in Bradford's - the same word could be a breakfast cereal for you!
