Maybe those answers will provide more letters for you. Here're tips for the other two clues...

38 A common word for 'shanty', musically, with 'chest, ultimately', the usual crossword indicator, inside. It's an old word meaning 'robbed long ago'.

21 A The vessels are anatomical, inside (accommodating) there's a common crossword word for 'suffering'. Servants is the definition.

I meant to add, the thematic content for this is very straightforward - I'm sure you'll find it much easier than the clues you struggled with!

The final two! I appreciate your help with 38 CROSS...Am I right to suggest the answer is STONG to accommodate 35 DOWN, a female character of the crew? And finally for 15 DOWN:
15 Chapters covering revolutionary enmity — they go fast (7)
?H?TAH?

Many thanks again!

15 Is just a variation of the cats who go fast, very fast. You have almost all of the letters of 'enmity' already (they're 'revolutionary, so...)

Yes, to Stong.

We don't have to 'accept' chetahs - it's a perfectly valid word, confirmed by Chambers!
