See is "lo"
"gnom(e)", is a saw/adage.
Upset/reversed gives "Mongol".

See = Lo
Saw = Gnome (a pithy saying)
Almost means we use Gnom, (saw almost)
Upset = reverse it all. so Mong +Ol
Mongol, Asian.

Many thanks, Rusty. I know 'gnomic' but have never come across 'gnome' as a noun, used in this sense, before.
