It runs diagonally, SW to NE, in four lines, starting at 20A

Nice concealment of instruction. But clues far too easy, I think?

I actually thought the instructions were too easy to find bearing in mind the date. I had them found before even starting the puzzle when they should have been an endgame.

I agree with prospect that the clues were too easy - and I agree with tomsdad that the instructions were too easy! The following day's EV was much more satisfying.

PS other viewpoints are available - there's probably at least one solver whose view is totally opposite to mine.
