Bunty, 7d is an old word for pay. ALE with R(E) in it.

My extra letters begin HENROUGH but that doesn't seem right.

I’ve finished the crossword.i can see the person in the grid but the instructions say “ but who must be taken from the scene”. Do I have to do anything further?

I "think" we just remove the 7 letter person and leave the cells blank ??

I can see the full name in the grid (6,7) but not why it is shown in an 'appropriate' way - or why removing it results in anything special.
