I haven't done this crossword before, so if this is too early to ask for an explanation, please just let me know - otherwise.......

44a Mark of excellence in one letting press repeat (7) - REENTER?

I've read this as 'One letting' = RENTER around a letter meaning 'Mark of excellence', but if the definition is 'Press repeat' then the 'Mark' would have to be E which seems too low a mark to be described as 'Excellent'

35d French girl of note - want details? (5) - RENEE?

if this is correct, how is it parsed?

Brendan, I'm still working on the puzzle, but for 35d
Note = RE (from do, re, etc) + NEE(d), want, details - drops tail.

That's great, many thanks Mattrom. I think I'll stick with the answer I've got for 44a and just hope I have a flash of inspiration, or, more likely, someone explains it to me.

Yes, brendan, E is for excellent, in the US at least.

Stuck on 46a, thematic one. Does it reference 10d I wonder.
Clue for 39d would help. I have SI?? Blue sounds resounding in volume.

46a: Yes, it does.

39d: homophone of "blue" sounds, synonym of volume.
