Like chemical reaction bringing death to different chap shortly

Endothermal, endothermic. Same meaning given by various dictionaries as of (not like)

Mal: Male or Malcom
Mic: Mick

Now, another clue suggests mal but surely the clue should be whole and give the answer. Any ideas?

Hi Tango
I used to teach chemistry, and I've never come across "endothermal"; "endothermic" was always the term used. Online dictionaries give the definition of "endothermal" as "endothermic"!

Both appear in QuickSolve but, like Chris, I'd only heard of endothemIC.

I would endorse what Chris has said here.
I have always know the term as "endothermIC" (also exothermic)
Incidentallay, "endothermAL "is not in Chambers.

Thanks all.

I think it has to be -mal simply by the fact that another clue gives the l.

I think the setter must have had an off day.
