If you have Bradford's crossword book look up Dutchman and take away the 3-letter word for family. Sweet is the def and R is the extra letter.

I got 12 by using Chambers' Word Wizard.

For 12A I put a 2 letter river (twice) inside AUS. Put a 4 letter word for trouble inside all this and drop a letter. It descibes some flowers

There are 2 people ... if you have the person along the bottom row... google him and you should find the one you need for the top row

I agree - in fact I forgot about it so did not use it. I dont think many setters woud have given you this, but it does finish off a very nice puzzle
