I thought this was excellent, and a rare Saturday finish for me.

Two key spots for solving the cutting - the shape description and the new love. Find them and it’s very straight forwatd.

Can’t see the ten letter description but I have all the other thematic material. I think changing a letter to form the new love is a cop-out; it makes even more possibilities and I’m finding it hard enough to work out these shapes as it is. Anyone want to give a hint or two? How many diagonals are there?

Yes, as others have pointed out, need at least one diagonal to make a 7 sider.

Well, I'm not getting anywhere. I'm sure 11a is solvable by my limited crossword brain, but I can't see it. Can I have a hint, please?

Egyptian soul = ba, after it quits bazaar we have zaar. Reformulate at + zaar to yield zaatar, a spice mix.

I would never have got that. I was looking for an anagram of 'spice mix' with a 2 letter word for Egyptian soul taken out.

I know this is an easy one going by the comments on here and Answer Bank, but I'm not getting it.
