Could I have help with parsing 28a please. Woman's side maybe infected, initially bound with rope (5). A misprint somewhere in the clue is changed to an r. Is it Lazio? And if so why?

Hi again marca, yes Lazio. Football team based in Rome, Woman's => Roman's. Lazo is a variant of lasso.

Thanks ginge I had just managed to parse it after posting...... as is often the way. Had tried the r in every word apart from the first one.

Thanks once again Ginge. Your pointing out the two wrong letters made things clear so it was a very fruitful journey - and meeting. As far as the quibble which you and Cockie have raised about the perimeter is concerned the preamble reads "leaving only real words" so my take on it - for what it's worth - is that it should be checked rather than unchecked because an abbreviation is not a real word.

I have just had a further thought about the unchecked cell with two letters. If that cell is the one between 26 and 30 rather than the one between 18 and 26 the entry at 26 across becomes a 3 letter word.

Yes alwayspuzzled, you are correct in your assumption.

I've finished the grid except for 29a: 'Group of Highlanders shortly to take on drink' (assuming the 'in' becomes 'on' from the original clue). I have CO??. The last letter may or may not be T. Any help gratefully received!
I also have filled in a few answers I couldn't parse but hey ho...

As usual I frustratingly have all the necessary quotes and members, but I am stuck on the final two clues :- 31ac which begins DO and may end in U, and 34ac, for which I have ST and ending in R. Any help please?

Another thought, could the”unchecked cell in the final grid” be between 12a and18a and contain the letters TH

Bigf, for the first one you need the German name of a famous river and for the second the name of a famous drummer.
