Got in late last night after having seen Graham Gouldman in concert. I knew that, as a songwriter, he had a body of work pre-10CC, and after in Wax with Andrew Gold, but not that it was so extensive. There were 3 songs, including "For Your Love," he wrote for the Yardbirds, 2 for the Hollies - "Look Through Any Window" and "Bus Stop," "No Milk Today" (Herman's Hermits) and "Pamela, Pamela" (Wayne Fontana).

Thanks very much, Seamus, Pigale and Ixion for your votes. Thanks, Marty, for hosting, your casting vote (commiserations, Mattrom and Steve) and for my prize. Doesn't Dhani look like his dad? Ironically, when Eric Clapton, who played lead guitar on the Beatles' original version of the song, was asked by a journo "What's it like to be the best guitarist in the world?", his reply was "Ask Prince."

See you all next week. Have a good weekend.

A little anecdote relating to my @24. For those unfamiliar with the television programme Mastermind, it is a quiz in which each contestant in turn sits in a forbidding-looking black leather chair to answer questions under a spotlight. The original host/question master was the late Magnus Magnusson, who lived close to our village.

Many years ago my wife was out walking our (previous) dog in the local countryside and was surprised to encounter an articulated lorry attempting to negotiate the narrow country roads. The driver stopped and asked my wife if she knew where the Magnusson residence was. Although it was somewhat off the beaten track, she was able to give him directions. He thanked her and grumpily informed her, "I've got that f@#%ing chair in the back." After his tenure as Mastermind host was over, the BBC had decided to present Magnus with the famous chair. Why on earth an articulated lorry was required to transport it, I've no idea.
