Well, it's a new one on me too, although I did know that "a trucker's salad" was another term for a Full English Breakfast.

Still I'm grateful for this as it might help with this corner.

I seem to have spent far too much of today on this already, but it looks as if I'll be back later.

Salad dodger has made its way into Chambers - I think it's been around for a while. Chambers says it's '(facetious) a person with an unhealthy diet'.

I thought I would be back, although, much to my surprise, I'm down to one or two.

For 35D (Black dresses a shade suggestive ultimately, and forward - 8, 5) I have inserted NUMBER EIGHT

Is this right? If so, why? If not, what is the right answer?

Also
54A - Finally, code opening case (5)
E?E?T

Help with my total bafflement would be welcome!

54. Event = case, instance etc. The first E is the last letter of 'code' (finally) + Vent = opening.

35 Number Eight must be a forward in football or rugby or something! It's Night = black, Umber = a shade/colour, with the 'e' from the end of 'suggestive'). N umber e ight.
