3 Could be Room - which is what a But is (a wee cottage is a But and Ben). This would work if 13 has an M. Roo = Joey. I haven't got the paper so this is all guesswork.

11a Chambers gives ETEN or ETTIN as a giant, but doesn't show an alternative spelling of ETIN. Am I on the wrong track?

Thanks Mattrom
Hadn't heard of Ilion only Ilium for Troy. Seems one is Latin & other Greek
Also if you Google Etin and scroll down there's a ref to an entry in a Scots dictionary
