Does it fit the 'donkey' part of the clue? 'Ingine' is in Chambers, but is defined only as 'ability, genius'. 'Donkey engine' is listed, so I was able to make 'engine' work - just?
I was taking ingine as a Scots variant of engine which also gives an i for one in the clue rather than the initial e of engine which doesn't fit so well.
To those who do this puzzle regularly - do you have a subscription or is there another way of accessing it? I've been using the 3-free-a-month option to date.
Just back from holiday and a surprise awaited - a lengthy thread about a Doc puzzle. Maybe he's mislaid his Brewer's.
One iffy bit for me - does 1dn make a sort of sentence (an instruction to an animal) or is it three unconnected words?
