. . . .but I think I have just found 25a in Chambers under the entry for the letter P. It has a hyphen in it.

Thank you Jogamel. It's not really moved me on though.
I have most of the top half filled in, but lower is very sparse. And I have the author's name filling the top row, but can't think of the "associated" book. Maybe it's not one that author wrote, but connected in some way?

Re 4dn, think just the first two letters are clued form (h)el(l);
similarly only the last two letters of 29dn are clued -- these are the two odd down clues.

Yes they are the 2. The letters not used in wordplay are part of the title of the book.

The book is not HP but a related book by the same author.

Thanks djawhufc - I've considered the one with 'where' in the title but can't find a character with the initial 'Q'. Am I in the wrong book?
