It has occurred to me that "screen" as I used it @10 might be an Americanism. It's what we call both the window insert for keeping insects out and the material itself. Is it mesh or netting or something else in the UK?

I don't think we really have anything here in the UK to keep flies out of our homes, they're more or less free to come and go as they please. I knew what your "screen" referred to however, I've seen "On golden pond"! ;)
