13 across. Totally flummoxed as to how "Treasure found in wreck: he's rich" equates to "Daughter"! All help appreciated.

I don't understand why daughter would be the answer.

Cherish (anagram of "he's rich) is a synonym for " treasure"

I wondered if it was right, but I assumed that as it's a book, there were answers in the back. Perhaps OP has misread it.

Many thanks for responses, Have double checked answer and its definitely "Daughter"! Coincidentally, "Cherish" is answer to 17 across just below it. Maybe compiler got confused?

If it was a Guardian book of puzzles, all would be explained!

Looks like a misprint/edit, all the same. What is the clue for which "cherish" is given as the answer?

To me, it appears to be a printing error :)

FYI, the letters I was left with were D_U_H_E_. The only word, other than Daughter, that I could make fit, was "Doughier", which could describe "he's rich!". I still reckon the compiler's got confused.
"In every teacher is hidden treasure" is the clue for "Cherish".

Cherish is defiitely correct for "in every teaCHER IS Hidden treasure"
(answer hidden in clue)

Doughier could well be the answer,as a joke for appearing to have more dough :)
