@ Ginge. Happy remembrance.

@Steve. Fiddleheads are unique but think chard or rapini but not bitter.
I like a splash of malt vinegar on them. They always taste better after an hour in the bush picking them! The season is only 1-2 weeks in April.

Take your time, ginge. No worries pal.

Paul, there is a magazine called 'Saga' - maybe SAG is a 'piece' of the word?

@ginge Condolences on the loss of a friend.

@dorrien I'd never heard of fiddleheads, but apparently young bracken fern fronds were part of aboriginal bush tucker - supposedly like asparagus.

@mattrom. Yes asparagus could be in the equation. Interesting that it could be an Aussie experience too. I thought it was a European thing as well as N.American

Hi folks, thanks for all your entries, patience (as I correctly surmised by 6pm yesterday other than the well practiced mechanical process of finding my face with the glass, nothing cranial was possible) and kind words. Once the curative powers of this first pint take effect I'll give this my immediate attention.

@dorrien: add chard and rapini to the list of foodstuffs I've never heard of or experienced .... 'tis clearly an exotic world down there!
