Think of a number, cockie. I've finished except for the second letter of 23d.

I have a number also, but don't see the connection with the missing vowels and the title.

If you mean 22D , I have E as the second letter , the FRenchman being Rene.

I don't see the connection bêtween the excisions and the righthand perimeter word nor understand the parsing of 12a.

Yes, 22d, thanks. But then I have BEANER which is no word to me so maybe I've made a mistake somewhere.

For 12a, Tippex is correction fluid. Eliminate three of those letters as in the clue. But I don't see how "cf our" comes into it.

I'm not sure about the excisions and the right-hand perimeter word either, although Masters perhaps for one.

12 Cf our is one of the 'words or phrases' mentioned in the preamble.

BEANER is correct, orson. Google it.

Yeah, number duly thought of. A bit weak, I feel. Still got to work out the relevance of all those consonants to the title, but at least I can send it in now.

I have the complete title now and reinstated vowels.

Have fiished everything except complete title - any hints gratefully received.
