Hi,

I'm relatively new to cryptics and have been working through "the Telegraph big book of cryptic crosswords". Could anyone explain these answers to me?:

1. Temporary ruler, a lively person in London (7,4)
regents park

2. Song about play so badly pronounced (7)
calypso

3. Land in yonder territory (5)
yukon

4. Name on chest of informant (4)
nark

5. Attitude of Pole on the river (7)
posture

1 Regent -temporary ruler and Spark, a lively person. Regents Park, in London.

3. UK,land, inside Yon,yonder. Yukon - territory.

4. N,abbreviation for Name, and Ark, a chest.

2. C - about, from Circa Latin + play+ so, in clue, all anagrammed to give Calypso,song.

5. Post - pole and Ure,an English river.

These explanations are great. Thanks!

Pole was capitalised. Does this not signify proper noun? Is it commonly used as a trick?

I've seen capitals used like this before - it's a bit sneaky!
