It seems to be a sort of &lit clue, and because of the ? at the end, indicating a joke ?

Yes, two good solves there. Midsummer Night's Dream was the first play we acted at Junior school, age 8 ! It was fun as we had a very enthusiastic teacher

We never actually "acted!
Just read the parts we were given, sitting at our desks.
I rather enjoyed it though - I think using one's voice alone, made one less self- conscious than if we had been standing about , trying to "act"!
