Thanks, guys. Yes, of course- it's simply he low "in the mouth".
SB and ER are used in baseball stats, so "back" is indeed just a reversal indicator.

Finally got round to doing this after 3 days of (fairly) wild camping (I came home at night, the others didn't).
Very enjoyable, thanks syzygy, though I'd never heard of a letter bank and would never have got 1 ac without the help on the "comments".
I also had never seen traveing used as an anagrind before, though apparently Emily and Henry have often done so. Clever clue, 7 dn.

I can't get the missing letters (2 and 7) for 11 dn but not worried. Tried googling.
I thought it was a very nice puzzle.
