Not a crossword clue, so I have no crossing letters to help me, but a word I have forgotten and want to recall. My memory suggests it begins with a B (something like basinet, but that is a helmet!)...

A bustier, like a basque, is designed to push the bust upwards, not cover it!

Perhaps you are thinking bodice, though chemisette is the right word. I saw one in a catalogue recently and it was called a modesty panel!

Rosalind, there are loads on eBay, all called modesty panels.

I used to wear a bodice for the long trip to school (bus, ferry, tram each way). It was fleecy inside but I still got very cold. Snow over the tops of my wellies, smog so sometimes I couldn't read the number on the bus. I don't fret for the good old days!
