Thank you djawhufc. Your hints are invaluable today. Is 23 Lernean and if so why. I can't see the missing letter because of this. Also I don't know what letter I have changed in 6 down as although I have first five words of the instruction, I am still fumbling with the rest.

I now see 23d is right but what letter baffles me as I don't obviously understand the definition.

In 6d the letter there is an extra E in the wordplay that goes into the message. Tika is a pendant which loses its T.

23 is lernean.

Mare is mire and lernean means like a marsh.

Lean unprofitable with rne odd letters of runner

It's MIRE isn't it? So please help with 6d if you are willing still.

Finished but confused by third word of message. It appears to have "no" in the middle instead of "m". Am I missing something?
