Characters pursuing tors on a cycle will do better (7)

Thanks to everyone who contributed such excellent clues. I was drawn to FJ's frigate @8, AB's unusually expansive post @13, Ixion @16, therogue @30 (noted double anagrind) and les40's late runner @31.

My favourites, Ginge@24 and Rambler@25 have given me a dilemma. I found I was unable to choose between them, so resorted to flipping a coin. It came up tails (kangaroos, in fact) for Ginge. My apologies, Rambler, but this week it is Ginge@24 with

"Better postgraduates dismiss Arts and do something else"
