Shorter word: much reduced opportunity to anagrammatise, but then it creates a different challenge, so bring it on!

Thanks BBM2 and congrats paul - nearly my pick.

The short word was surprisngly fecund, BBM - it allowed me my quintuple (although the surface didn't make much sense).
