Plants, having towered up, about to fall, one afternoon. (7) I think from what I have the answer is 'aspidia', but I cannot reconcile the clue with this. Any insight?
I've realised I should think of it as 'a-spired' (having a spire) and that fits 'towered up'. I wondered how aspired/hoped could work with 'towered up'.
Thanks Malone. I now see 'to tower up' as a definition for aspire in Chambers. I have heard the expression 'to tower up' as in it 'towered up over the city', but I never heard 'it aspired over the city'. Live and learn. Thanks.
