I don't have ixion & paul's votes, but I think the final result is obvious enough: mattrom is the clear winner with his ingenious New Year's clue. There is only a very flimsy connection between the word & the prize clip: James Joyce seems to have owed his (first, sexual) epiphany to Nora Barnacle (see for instance the Maddox biography of her). And those delicious GOOSE Barnacles plucked from rocks in the Atlantic waves apparently have a delightful technique for catching their prey.
