Sincere congrats nevertheless, mattrom; thanx 2 Seamus for running the show, and also to my 3 "supporters"! I shall certainly find time next week as usual to have another go!

Congratulations, mattrom - close call for me between GK's and yours.

Thanks seamus.

Thanks to all for taking part, including rosalind who tried but passed. Sorry about the confusion in the voting when I missed chrise's first vote.

I have just discovered that the forum can be set up to display the most recent posts first which I hope will make it easier to see them as they arrive. Time will tell.

I always have it set to "most recent first", seamus. I find it much more convenient, especially with long threads.

Congrats Mattrom! Commiserations GK, and thanks for setting and the clips Seamus. I also had never heard of the gentleman referred to - don't know if that's down to my age bracket or the sad fact of rarely listening to anything other than LBC or Magic on the radio. Does signor Semprini ever make an appearance on today's airwaves? Anyway, hope the Ayrshire weather is not too challenging and have a great New Year!

Alberto died in 1990, but in my teenage years (dum-de-dum years ago) he had a programme on the the Light Programme (later Radio 2) called Semprini's Serenade which was compulsory listening in our house! More info here:
