I'm going to attempt to recreate the crossword here. Sometimes once you hit "Add post" it goes a bit skewed.

Yep, totally skewed! I had it as a nice cross format. showing 2D being intersected by 9A, 12A and 17A.

Anyway the remaining clues are:

28A The opposite of 12, as in rule ((8) D _ C _ _ _ _ _

26D A 9 amongst others, such as Trinity (4) _ _ _ M

11D 1D mixed with vast entirety (9,3) Universal _ _ T

There is absolutely no doubt that I would have tossed this crossword
into the bin long ago had it not been for your genius and determination. You stuck with it all day! The paper is a local one - The Derry News. I hope I can resist buying it next week.
